How do I export my video in 500x500 resolution? I know there's a feature in Final Cut Express that allows me to make custom dimensions when I export but I can't find the same in FCPX.

Tom is right, BUT! ...the newest version of Compressor (41.) allows you to do just THAT! ...to export custom sizes.
It's easy. And... once you set it up, you can export DIRECTLY from FCPX, provided you've saved / added this scheme as a "destination" in the FCPX app.
I export in Apple 720p, then use Quicktime 7 or MPEG Streamclip, then you can resize your video to any size you want. Streamclip is nice because you can figure out what the file size will be prior to rendering, based on your data rate. It's handy.
You can't. FCP only exports the projection resolution or standard video resolutions.

That's obsolete in the current version. You can make any custom size project and export it, but you can't take a project and export it a custom, only the dimensions the project is in.
