Logic cant import audio!

Question

Logic cant import audio!

Hi,
I'm using logic 7.2.1 & I just installed it on a MacBook pro. Now, I'm unable to Import any audio files... no apple loops... nothing! When i navigate to my firewire drive (where my audio is) all of my audio files are not "highlighted" therefore they cant be choosen!... Does anyone know whats up with this?

Does your audio have a recognized file extension? I have seen cases where either the Finder itself doesn't associate the file to an audio app. Once I assigned a file extension to the audio file, the Finder saw it as an audio file, thus did Logic.

Apple loops are accessed using the Apple Loop Browser under the Audio Menu.

Try dragging other audio into the arrange window via the finder.

It dosent seem to matter what ext. the file has (Wav., Aiff, or apple loop, etc.) the import box will not highlight it...cant select! Does it hav something to do with the format of the firewire hard drive?

Which icon is associated with the audio file? Have you tried to drag it in to Logic (as opposed to using the import filebox)?

Some of the files have the "itunes" icon, some have the "Quicktime" icon, and others have the "Logic" icon... it dosent seem to matter... I can drag from the disk itself, but that calls for reshaping my arrange page and opening the hard disk and draging the file. The import function (working normal) is much easier... is there a malfuction in Logic?

I was reading a book called, "LOGIC PRO 7 power!" by Orren Merton, and on page 221 a section called "Adding files to the arrange window". It says: "By choosing "File >Import" you can import audio or midi files into logic." As it turns out, this works for MIDI files or "other" song files (garage band & others)...NOT audio. That would be done by choosing "Audio >Import Audio file..."! So was I missled by Orrens' book?
