the following message appears on my iPad

if I go to safari the message is there on the screen and there appears to be no way to be rid of it!
Any suggestions for a remedy would be appreciated

Currently there's no known virus affecting iPad (as long as you do not Jailbreak iPad).
Try this:
1. Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data
2. Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple Logo
Thos kinds of sites are designed to scare the user into going to the website and spending money. Many people will fall for it.
