Q: irase my iphone what does it do?

phone was stolen by armed robbers, does "irase my Iphone "  destroy the phone so they cannot use it? Or only irase the info.How does it work? thanks

iPhone 4S, iOS 7.0.1

If you issue the erase command, & your phone connects to the Internet, all data on the phone will be erased. Since your phone was running iOS 7.0, they will not be able to re-activate the phone without knowing your Apple ID & Password.

 

Report the loss to your carrier, & change your Apple ID Password, & email password.

    If you use Find My iPhone to erase the device, your information is removed completely.  But donot 'Remove from account'.  If you do, then that is what allows someone to use your iPhone as their own iPhone.

     

    Report the theft to local law enforcement, as well as your wirless carrier.  The wireless carrier should be able to blacklist the device.
