I have various pdf documents on my iMac and I want to sync them onto my iPad how do I do this please?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.4), iPod Touch, iPad3

install ibooks on the ipad

connect the ipad by usb to the computer

use itunes and the ibook part there to sync the pdf documents
