How can I create the little arrow in the latest pages version on Mavericks

I mean the arrow you normally get, when you type in -->...(it works this way in office word)

Menu > Apple > System Preferences > Text > Substitutions > Text Replacements > Replace --> With →

I would do it in the Auto-Correction in the System preferences. I have it like this on my Snow Leopard

I added the arrow from the Special character palette.

but the problem on mavericks is that you can whether do it in the system preferneces nor in the preferences of pages itself.

In Mavericks it is all done in the System Preferences.

It works as soon as you have typed the two dashes and the > followed by a space, it is substituted.
