how to remove pictures from my ipad without removing them from dropbox

Deleting pictures from the Photos app on your iPad has nothing to do with deleting them from the DropBox app. As long as you don't delete them from the DropBox app on your iPad, they won't be deleted from Dropbox.

I have my DropBox account set up to copy pictures from my Camera Roll. Deleting them from there does not delete them from DropBox. The pictures are being backed up. They are not being kept in sync.
