I don't get any notifications when invited to a calender invite

I am using an iphone 5 with 7.0.4 ios. My wife and i share calender invites etc but when she invites me I get an email and not an invite in the calender app.

I use the built in calender app (for my calender obviously lol) and Gmail app for my email.

How can I get notifications back to calender rather than getting emails ?

Any help would be appreciated.
