How-to accurately/professionally assess our 15" rMBP displays

This thread was established because the one that started discussing this subject has become much more wide-ranging.

Rather than try to convince users there to make it more narrowly focused, it made more sense to start a new thread.

This thread's focus is as follows:

(1) Defining all the metrics one must use for assessing a 15" rMBP's overall IQ.

(2) All the metrics to use must be fully defined & agreed upon...

(3) Once that's done the 2x levels for each of those metrics will be as follows:

Acceptable = level that must be reached for that metric to be deemed as normal/avg

Exceptional = level that must be reached for that metric to be deemed as well above normal

(4) Here again, the level to be reached must be defined & agreed upon...

To clarify more, this thread's about 15" rMBP's*, for those who want to add data-points relating to 13" rMBP's, feel free to do so here:

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4034848?start=0&tstart=0

Or alternatively, start a dedicated thread like this one...

Finally, this thread isn't about working out what to do if your display doesn't reach the "acceptable" level in one or more of the metrics.

I may eventually start a dedicated thread for that, but for the time being this thread has been "good enough" for that:

Are original posts in this forum editable? I suspect not...

So here's a link to a Google doc in which all this data can be collaboratively worked on:

We'd love to hear from folks who have expert/specialised knowledgeable/experience when it comes to designing/assessing displays.

Ideally you'd be able to fully verify your claimed expert/specialised knowledge/experience.

Discuss.

There is no sense bumping your thread. Your post is long, convoluted, hard to understand, and may be a poll which is contrary to the terms of use of this group. Not to mention that you are linking to and advocating the use of another service, Google Docs, which also may be against the TOU.

I doubt many will be responding. But I may be wrong.

How is convoluted & hard to understand, what parts don't you understand & would like to me to clarify? It's not a poll, you clearly don't understand it, try reading once more & you should, else I can help you. The Gdoc is only a collaborative aid, it's a scratchpad, it won't be where final info. goes, that can go in User Tips or similar.
