Can't access Parental Controls

My dad and I are trying to change the Parental Controls that he has set on my computer, but everytime System Preferences quits. It comes up with the message saying that "the application System Preferences quit unexpectedly" and I've reported the problem to Apple but it keeps quitting whenever I try to access it. Everything else is fine.

I've only had my notebook (MacBook Pro) for just over a year and I've never had any problems before this.

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012), OS X 10.8.4

alannah_needs_help,

reporting the problem to Apple will make absolutely no difference in causing System Preferences to not quit.

If you and your dad create a new user (say, “Test”) with parental controls identical to yours, and then you try to remove the parental controls from the Test user, does System Preferences still quit, or does it succeed with the Test user?
