Problem when coming out of Sleep mode , with the screen taking over 1 minute to activate and the cursor taking another 6 minutes to activate ?? Any ideas why

This is my first time at posting one of these messages, so I may not be completely accurate. I have installed Mavericks and have found that when I go into sleep mode and try to awaken the system by pressing on the space bar, the screen will not activate itself for at least a minute and the cursor will not activate itelf for a further 6 minutes (approx). The workaround is by pressing the start button which activates both the screen and the cursor immediately. Previous OS was an immediate response when hitting the space bar.

When I downloaded Mavericks one of the facilities I was interested in was the Keychain options. I looked in the System Preferences under the icon Security and Privacy and entered data in the firevault options. Following that I found that I was having a problem with the 'sleep' mode of the MAC. In order to address I decided to remove all the setups I had done since I installed Mavericks (which was only the Provacy and Security options). Following that removal my sleep and awake mode is fine.

I am making the assumption the 'firevault' setiings in the Privacy and Security option were not there before Mavericks and are part of the keychain facility.

Hope this helps
