How can I add multiple reminders at once?

My wife often sends me a list of items for the grocery store via email. It makes sense to me I would be able to copy the text and paste it into a list in reminders. When I do this, I get a single reminder with all the items listed in one long line. Is there a way to get it to put one reminder per line in the original text?

For example:

blackberries

sweet potatoes

green pepper

zucchini

Should result in 4 new reminders, but instead I get "blackberries sweet potatoes green pepper zucchini" which isn't very helpful.
