There is a bar running along the top of the Safari window that starts on the left with a magnifying glass, then a box, then a "search" tab, then continuing with titles for various websites. I don't know how I go things up in this bar, and want to remove some. How did I put things in this bar and how do I remove unwanted titles?

I looked there, but don't see any way to delete titles/"top sites" [which I assume is what I am talking about. Could you give more help? I am not especially computer literate.
Depending which ones you want to lose, go to Safari > Preferences > Bookmarks then in the menu if you uncheck reading list or top sites, they will disappear.
What version of Safari are you running? Could you include a screen shot of what you are talking about?

What I am referring to is the bar on the bottom with the items to the right of the "Search" button. Another thing is that I only want to delete certain items, not all of them. When I do Safari>Preferences>Extensions it comes up showing only one of the items on the bar on the left of the screen - one that I do not want to uninstall. I have gone to the sites of the other ones and do not see how to uninstall from there. Hope this helps to clarify my question.
By the way, not sure how to show a screen shot. Tried taking a picture and then dragging into this box from my desktop, but it did not seem to work, so I dragged it into Pages, then copied it and tried pasting it. It then showed up when I was typing, but now I don't see it in my reply. Could you tell me how to do this?
In the view Menu, you can select "Navigation Toolbar" to add/remove that toolbar. If you want to customize the toolbar, right-click in a blank area and select "Customize..." That will allow you to add/remove items to the right of the search box.
Oh, and to take a screen capture, press command+shift+4 and drag a box around the area you want to capture. The file will appear on your desktop. The esc key will get you out of screen capture mode if you enter it by accident.
I know how to take a screen shot - wasn't sure if screen shot was the same as my taking a picture. Below is the result of taking a screen shot and dragging it here from the desktop.

If you can't see it, don't know what else to do.
When you are replying to a message, click the little camera icon in the text editor. That will allow you to choose a file from your computer. Apparently, drag and drop doesn't work.
