NTFS Permissions Changing on Server After Copying over Folder from Mac

At work we are a mixed house of Macs and Windows machines. Our network storage is on a Windows 2008 server.

What we are seeing is that when a Mac user creates and copies over a folder that they created on their Mac to the Windows server, the permissions on the server are not being inherited correctly. The folder is then locked out for Windows and Mac users. We are not even able to then go in and change the permissions at all on this folder and then have to use a 3rd party tool to remove the folder.

Is there something that is being done incorrectly on the Mac or something that needs to change on the server side to prevent this? It only seems to happen if they have an existing folder that they created localy, populated with files, and then copied over to the Windows server.

Thanks
