I have an older macbook (White)

My hard drive crashed and I have replaced it. I now am trying to load the Snow leopard OS system from my wife's macbook pro OS disc, but I keep getting a message saying it "cannot be loaded on this machine". What do I need to get the Operating System for my mac up and running?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6)

A machine specific OS disk, such as the one from your wife's MacBook Pro, will not work with a different computer. You need either the original disk that came with your MacBook or a generic retail install disk.

If you contact Apple they may be able to get you the original install disk. Make sure the person you talk to knows you want the disk that is specific to your MacBook, NOT a generic retail installer. There may be a small charge for this.

Best of luck.
