FileVault stuck Decrypting - Estimating time remaining for more than a week

Last week I turned off FileVault and it said "Decrypting... Estimating time remaining"

It's been like that for more than 5 days now. I'm assumimg that it is never going to end. Ultimatly, I would like to turn FileVault back on, but there is no way to do it in it's current state. I even did a full reboot and when I go into the filevault settings, it's still the same message, "Decrypting... Estimating time remaining"

I don't know if this will work for anyone else (had this same issue with macOS Sierra) and found that clicking on the lock in the bottom left corner of the system preferences (that says click here to prevent further changes) and entering my password seemed to do the trick. .... Possible fix that may or may not apply to other people?

Im having the same problem, please pass on if you get a solution.

Upgraded to Yosemite, checked the FileVault option, its now stuck on Decrypting...Estimated time remaining. Ive tried resetting RAM, no success, Ive used Disk Utility, File, Turn Off Encryption, at one point I got the message to connect a power-supply, which I did and It looked like we were back on track Decrypting said 5 days, 3 days, 18 hours, did that for about a minute then is now back on ETR...

Ok, so I need to repair my disk which is why I clicked on decrypt. Since last night it has been sitting on "decrypting...estimated time remaining". I know it will take a while to decrypt, however, the fact that it's not telling me how long, causes me a bit of uncertainity. Should it tell me? And how do I get it to stop so it will tell me? Any help is helpful! Thanks

Same problem here, just wanted to add some specifics.

Rebooting doesn't allow me to start the decrypt process over, it just picks up where it was—"estimating time remaining" with progress bar at about 35%, exactly where it has been almost the entire time.

Something no one else has mentioned (possibly because they aren't experiencing it) is that the computer is unusably slow while this is happening. Beachball for 20+ seconds whenever trying to open anything, even system prefs or other hard drive directories. The only way I've been able to clear up this sluggishness is booting into safe mode (holding shift during startup), which shows "Decryption paused" instead of the dreaded estimating-time-remaining message (I guess it can't decrypt while in safe mode—ok, makes sense).

One other clue is that my console is littered with "kernel: CoreStorageGroup::completeIORequest - error 0xe00002ca detected for LVG […]" messages. About one every 2 seconds. A 1-minute sample:

Googling this makes me think the drive might be going bad. It's a 128GB SSD. Right now, I'm trying to decide how long to let this decrypting nonsense continue before I try to restore it from time machine, possibly to another drive.
