WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A CONTACT IS BLOCKED?

Does anyone know what actually occurs when a contact has been blocked in from calling your number? Do they see a message saying they have been blocked? Do you get a message they have attempted to call you? Does this action also block them from other forms of communicating with you, i.e. e-mailing, text messaging?

Thanks,

The phone carrier is the one that actually does the blocking, so you should consult your carrier's website or tech to find out their details

A friend of ours had this problem though, when someone was bothering her. It will block phone calls and texts, but not emails because the carrier has no control of this. Did not find out what they saw on their end, but the calls and messages stopped.

Also, you will have to periodically renew the block, it is not permanent. I believe it was for 6 months for her carrier.

i found this by doing a google search

Yes. When they call you, they’ll hear a few rings interrupted by a busy signal. We’ve tested this with an iPhone running iOS 6, an Android phone, and a landline. If you’re getting a busy signal from an iPhone, you’ve probably been blocked.

Here’s what it sounds like: You’ve Been Blocked

What about texts?

If you’re sending a text, it will look like it was delivered. If you’re sending a message to someone who has blocked you, and you’re using iMessage, it will say “delivered” — exactly like a text that went through.

And FaceTime?

If someone you’ve blocked tries to FaceTime you, they’ll see what looks like a normal request to chat over FaceTime on their end, but it will never connect and it will ring indefinitely. You won’t notice anything.

KiltedTim is correct, blocked calls simply go to voicemail.

There is no way to block a call in the sense that most people think blockig a call will do. This is something that must be done on the carrier level.

I verified that calls go to voicemail by using another line that I have on a non iPhone phone. I blocked the # and it went to voicemail after about two rings.
