Wireless keyboard will not wake up mac in sleep mode.

I think this is a relatively old issue, but it's new to me.

I just got a new external monitor for my macbook pro.

I have a new wireless keyboard/ mouse combo (logitech K350 & M510) but I can't seem to get them to function when I close my computer's top to allow my new monitor full resolution.

I never had this problem with my old set up because they were wired, but it seems nearly impossible to find a wired setup these days...and I have enjoyed the wireless aspect of both.

Even when I restart and close the top before it's fully running (which is how I used to do it) the monitor stays on for a bit but eventually goes to sleep mid-action.

I read lots of complaints about compatability for logitech and OS X, but most of the posts seemed really old. There was talk of "USB Overdrive" and "Steermouse"...but I'm not sure if either will fix my issue.

I'm admittedly not the most computer savvy, but I'm certainly not helpless.

...that said, can anybody help me figure this out? 😐

I'm running 10.8.5, if that helps.

Thanks in advance.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)
