Unable to RECEIVE calls and text messages UK

Hi, Please can someone help.

I got a Vodafone payg SIM card on 28th December 2013. At first it wouldn't work and stayed on no service. I took it to the apple store and they plugged it into the computer, worked their magic and just like that, I had service.

I thought all was going well until I noticed that I was not receiving any text messages, and then realised I was not receiving any phone calls either. I've been in touch with Vodafone and the reply I got from them was " Oh, that's odd". And that was that. My iMessage and FaceTime also WONT activate.

The handset is IPhone 4 32g. Pay as you go Vodafone. I can call people and send text messages no problem. My data works fine outside of wifi.

Please can someone help. Vodafone say the SIM card is working fine.

Ps, I've tried manual roam, resetting network settings, switching the phone on and off, and removing and re inserting the SIM card. All have failed to correct the issue. Thanks in advance.

Hey there Melissa,

It sounds like you are unable to receive phone calls or texts on the phone or activate iMessages or FaceTime. As for the cellular connection, I would try steps 5-9 of the following article since you have done some great troubleshooting so far:

iPhone: Troubleshooting a cellular data connection

http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3780

  1. If your SIM card has SIM PIN enabled, try toggling it off: Tap Settings > Phone > SIM PIN.
  2. Try another location. If a different location works, but the original location still does not, contact your carrierto report the issue.
  3. Reset network settings: Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
  4. Restore the iPhone as new.
  5. Contact your carrier to:
    • Verify that the iPhone is properly set up on the account with the appropriate, current data plan.
    • Verify that there are no account-related blocks.
    • Find out if there are specific error messages in the carrier logs that could help determine why the issue is occurring.

If none of the above steps resolves the issue, contact your carrier, make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store, or contact AppleCare to troubleshoot further.

As for troubleshooting the issues activating iMessage and FaceTime try the steps in this article:
