cant find search window

Very frustrated and it might be a simple fix - I cannot find the search window in iTunes on my Mac. It looks like it is cut off at the top and I can't figure out how to maximize the window so I can find it. Also, when I import a track to the library, I can't tell if it has imported bc nothing happens and then I can't search for it to see if it is there, which means I can't create playlists and add new tracks to playlists. Using version 11.1.3
