Which macbook pro should I get?

I am definitely after the 13 Macbook Pro however I cannot decide whether I should get: 13-inch: 2.4GHz with Retina display - 256GB

13-inch: 2.6GHz with Retina display - 512GB

13-inch: 2.6GHz with Retina display - 512GB, 16GB Ram

Mostly use for when I got uni in a month for: Surfing the web, iTunes, heavy music downloading, heavy movie downloading, streaming (movies, Netflix, etc), Microsoft Office, maybe bootcamp to have windows installed for gaming, gaming (never pc games before and not a big gamer but wish to play call of duty type games on my mac, GTA when it comes out etc), GoPro video editing (not major but wish to get 'good' at making GoPro movies in iMovie or something similar).

Would to have at least 3 years, I am getting the education discount so the 3 year applecare warranty is standard. In my opinion I don't think i will need the 16gb of ram but that is a guess..

Also does anyone have any suggestions on good case or sleeve it? I was thinking the Thule gauntlet but apparently it is a loose fit as it is not made for the retina version pacifically or maybe the leather case advertised on apples website? Is a keyboard cover necessary? I plan on just using a sleeve or case?

Thanks

EdwardQ,

since the Retina models have non-upgradeable RAM, my recommendation to you would be to maximize your RAM rather than your CPU, if you have to choose between the two. The most intensive tasks on your list will be running the Windows games and the video editing — the video editing would probably benefit the most from maximized RAM. The Windows games are more likely to be limited by the GPU on the 13-inch models.

As long as you don’t keep liquids near your MacBook Pro, you won’t need a keyboard cover.
