Upgraded Java: Yahoo games won't load

Just upgraded to the very latest Java (JRE-7U51) and each time I try to play an online Yahoo game, I get the following message:

Application Blocked by Security Settings

Name ygames_applet

Location http://yog34.games.sp2.yahoo.com

Your security settings have blocked an untrusted application from running

------------

I've uninstalled it and re-installed it, but it's the same thing each time. Anyone know what I can do about this?

Sorry to hear you are experiencing this problem with Java. As for Java, avoid the new update (Java 7 Update 51). You can uninstall Java and then revert back to the last working version (Java 7 update 45) to get apps that use java working again.

I would suggest and I hope my post won't get taken down from Apple for advertising. Google "AppCleaner" a Mac must have! Use this utility to remove java and all of it's component files from your Mac. You can then revert to the last working version of java by running the JRE-U45 installer.

Life is good again 😎

Google "AppCleaner" for Mac and download this utility. Then go to filehippo dot com and search for java. You will need to download the older previous release, java 7 update 46 was the last version that worked for most.

Open AppCleaner, in the AppCleaner you will see an icon for "Others" click there and you will do a search for "Java" check all java items. Click below on the button to search. Now delete all the associated component files. Poof! Java 7 update 51 has been removed from your Mac. Now run the installer for Java 7 update 45 (JRE-U45). After the successful install. Test your apps that rely on java to see if functionality has been restored. Presto! Life is good again, I promise--you will be a Mac superstar to all you Mac user friends--*Applause*

Greetings,

I thought I was alone on this problem. I have 4 PCs and three of them with the new Java 7 version 51 and (64-bit)..none of them work with yahoo. I uninstalled all versions of Java and reinstall version 45...darn...no luck. So any help will be appreciated.

Heck...I'm retired...and I spend way too much time playing games on Yahoo.

I know NOTHING about computers as I'm in sales and have IT take care of everything 🙂

I experienced the same problem and fixed it on my own in five minutes. Here is what I did:

Clicked on TOOLS.

Clicked on INTERNET OPTIONS.

Clicked on PROGRAMS

Clicked on MANAGE ADD ONS

Off the the right you will see the Java add ons. I had three Java lines. I left the one on top JAVA 7 alone. I disabled the two below which are labeled JAVA PLUG IN SSV and SSV 2.

I went to Yahoo. And my Cribbage games are now back.

Hope this helps.

As I mentioned in my post - I'm in SALES. Have no idea what you mean by application.

I just look at the top of my laptop's toolbar and I see:

FILE EDIT VIEW FAVORITES TOOLS HELP

I clicked on Tools and followed the rest of what I said I did.

After I did what I did? I've been playing games all morning 🙂

Now it's time to go to the beach. It's gonna be 80 degrees here in San Diego! 🙂

well apparently Java hates Yahoo. after adding the yahoo games domain to the exception list, I still get an error saying "This application was blocked even though the host site of the html file... ...is included in the Exception Site List..."

apparently yahoo servers refer to other serves, such as the OP's http://yog34.games.sp2.yahoo.com

I've yet to get Java to access with exception... stupid Java and stupid Yahoo for being so careless about java security.
