Mirror RAID Set Degraded - How to repair without replacing drive

I have 2 TB Drives as a Mirror RAID Set and it showing as Degraded. By reading in other forum entries it seems that my problem was caused by my disks gettting unsynced or one of them being corrupted. Trying to rebuild the RAID using DU, doesn't work. I've read that you can replace the one drive that shows as 'damaged' and then attempt to rebuild the RAID. However, I think that both of my disks are still good and none of them need to replaced. Could I format or delete slice on the drive that shows as 'damaged' and then attempt to rebuild the RAID with the other drive? If I try to format or delete the RAID slice it gives me an alert message saying that it will delete the data from both disks. I have the data backed up on a third drive but would like to avoid formatting both RAID drives just to rebuild it.

Will appreciate some feedback. Thanks!
