How can I confirm my iPhone is properly unlocked?

I recently unlocked my old iPhone to use for travel. It was through att adn everything was approved. But I had already erased the phone prior so there was no way to back it up. SO i went straight to the restore step. is there anyway to tell if the phone is correctly unlocked with out having my new foriegn sim card yet.
