Why won't my mac accept cds

I have tried everyhting from checking the disk utility and clearing out through there, doing a cd-rom boot(holding c while I restarted) as well as holding n. I bought my mac refurbished and for as long as I've had it, I've never put a disk in it. So, there is really no way one could be stuck. Is there something I am doing wrong or do I simply need to take it to the apple docors? 😟

Ive fixed several Superdrives, however its nearly futile since a new Superdrive (made by Panasonic) only costs $40, though I like fixing things.

Immediate ejection points to (usually) a bad loader, or as you put it a bad drive.

otherwise its a dusty lens, but not by your indications.

Superdrives are actually rather complex mechanically.
