Does iCloud work in China?
Am travelling to China soon and am wondering if iCloud works in China?

Here is my short answer: iCloud works for me in China when I need to access photostream, contacts, etc. iCloud backup also works over a reasonably good wifi connection. HOWEVER, iCloud RESTORATION DOES NOT WORK FOR ME when I need to reset and restore my device.
The problem is excruciatingly slow downlink connection to iCloud server. Even when I can successfully back up my device to iCloud over a wifi connection, I cannot restore the device over the same wifi connection.The displayed restore time is usually 35 hours for me (my broadband's actual downlink speed is 700kb/s, a reasonable connection by Chinese standards), but 3 hours into the restoration it displays a failure message, and I have to start over. I strongly advise you to back up your devices using iTunes and a computer while in China. Don't repeat my mistake!
