Mountain lion - Mavericks upgrade problem

I have OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5), and am trying to upgrade OS X Mavericks (10.9.1), like it has recommended on my software update list. But every time I try, it says an error has occurred and doesn't download. Any ideas anyone?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)
