Deleting temporary files

Hi,


I am a new MAC user, using OS X Mavericks. I would like to know how to clear temporary files, cache and cookies in mac air.

My MAC startup time is 10 secs and shutdown time is 20 secs (average). is this normal? Please advice

MacBook Air, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

Safari 7


History:


Click History in the Safari menu bar and click "Clear History" at the bottom of the page.


Cookies:


Click Safari in the menu bar and then Preferences.


Click "Remove All Website Data" button next to "Cookies and other website data".

Click the Details button to remove cookies individually.


Caches:


Empty Caches.


1. Safari > Preference > Advanced

Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".

"Develop" menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.

Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.


2. Quit Safari if open.

Option click the "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.

Select "Library" and then "Caches".

Look for the folder 'com.apple.Safari"

Right click "com.apple.Safari" and select "Move to Trash"

Relaunch Safari.


or


Reset Safari.


Click Safari in the menu bar.

From the drop down select "Reset Safari".

Click "Reset".
