Q: Podcast author having "Download error. Tap to retry." message with all of my episodes

Hello all,

Myself and two friends of mine have created a new podcast - "A Good Talk Spoiled". We have been accepted on iTunes and our XML is located here: http://krslynx.com/podcast/GTSPodcast.xml.

When every Apple Podcasts App user goes to download any of our episodes, they get this error message: "Unable to Download Podcast. [Episode name] could not be downloaded at this time". However, the podcast can be streamed no problem.

Does anyone know how I resolve this? Is there a problem with our XML code? Or is it something else?

Thanks,

Bobby.

I have the same issue. Out Podcast will not download with Podcasts app. It will stream. It will download and stream in iTunes. It will also download and stream in 3rd party apps such as RSSRadio. This suggests the feed is fine and that the problem is with the Podcasts app.

Can I ask donnellyb, did you try 3rd party apps and iTunes?

    My feed is

Any help would be appreciated, I'm sure the OP is as frustrated as myself.

    Hi rgouther,

We are indeed able to download using other applications but the main complaint from our listeners is that they can't download it.

I have written the code myself so am unsure if I have done everything right.

    Thanks,

I basically used a feed from another podcast in a similar genre, and changed all the relevant details to suit my own needs. This other podcast, which I am subscribed to, downloads fine in the app as do all my other subscriptions.

You can test your feed using rss checker on google.

As it is only the Podcasts app that refuses to allow downloads, I am sure it must be problem either with the app, or the compatibility between the app and my host server.

Thanks rgouther, I searched high and low to find a simple code that worked in that the files downloaded. I eventually found one and it now seems to be working.

Our code is located at http://krslynx.com/podcast/GTSPodcast.xml if anyone has this problem in the future. It is straight forward code and the episodes are downloading. The only caveat is that if the episodes are over 50MB and the user of the Podcast App are not connected via Wi-Fi, they don't download and there is no warning that Wi-Fi is required. If we record an episode over 50MB, we will put it in the title that Wi-Fi is required to download.

    Thanks.

Trying to download my mp3's through apple's Podcasts app, but keep getting a "download error" after the file has downloaded and is being processed.  The name of the podcast is called Tribunal de los Superweyes and is located here: https://itunes.apple.com/mx/podcast/el-tribunal-de-los-superweyes/id391289608?mt =2  The message that pops up says "Unable to Download Podcast.  [Episode #] could not be downloaded at this time."  My options are then to either Retry or hit Done.  If I hit Retry, nothing happens.  If I hit Done then the message goes away, and I am able to try and download the episode again after a few seconds.  I've retried downloading the episodes multiple times, every time the same error.  The episodes do play stream though, which is weird. I've tried turning the phone off and on again, as well.  Nothing.  I've tried on iOS 9, 9.1, and now 9.2... same error.

if I search for the episode on the app, inside the app, then I am able to download it, but the error happens on the subscription screen only, episodes can be downloaded on iTunes for pc and other podcast aggregators.

    Can anyone help?
