IPad air is not charging when connected. Cable is fine as I checked with my iPhone 4S. Re-booted, still no joy.

Your iPad Air uses a lightning connector and the iPhone uses the 30 pin connector, you can't possibly be using the same cable. If you are, that's the problem.

What are you connecting the iPad air to? Use the charger that came with it and plug that into a known good wall outlet.

Mistake in iPhone model it was the 5S. Plugged in the iPad to my computer using the same cable and it worked. Must be something wrong with the plug which is not an apple product, just a standard plug with connector.
