DISPLAY QUESTION- HDMI monitor with a Macbook Pro (Fall 2013)
Macbook Pro Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013 — Running 10.9.1
I have a two external monitor set up.
My main external monitor is connected with a DVI to mini-display port adaptor:
QUESTION:
Can I connect an external monitor (Dell 2408WFP) with HDMI DIRECTLY to the HDMI port on my MBP and achive the monitors native resolution of 1920x1200 resolution? — what will happen if I try?
(I dont want to have to take up my second thunderbolt port with another DVI-minidisplay port adaptor if I can avoid it that.)

Looking for someone with actual experience of using HDMI rather than just reading off apple's site. I'm kinda confused by it... Will I achieve better or worse results vs the DisplayLink USB method?
On the tech specs — Apple lists:
http://www.apple.com/macbook-pro/specs-retina/
HDMI video output
Support for 1080p resolution at up to 60Hz
Support for 3840-by-2160 resolution at 30Hz
Support for 4096-by-2160 resolution at 24Hz
Previously, I had been using DisplayLink (USB) to power the secondary monitor, however, as that isnt ideal (for many reasons) I was thinking about using the secondary monitor with the HDMI port. I havent used HDMI before, so what can I expect resoltuion and performce wise?
