I am trying to update adobe flash but can't remember my password

I am trying to install an update for Adobe flash but can't remember my password. When I'm trying to make a purchase there is a blocked sign. I've tried numerous times to download it but have been unsuccessful.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

I'm not entirely sure what you're asking here, so I'll answer a couple of questions...

Down-revision versions of Adobe can be blocked on various OS X versions, but I don't recall that happening as far back as 10.6. (There was another Adobe Flash Player security update released yesterday.)

There's no purchase for Adobe Flash Player, and it's not available in the Mac App Store.

Adobe Flash Player is a download (only, directly, never from elsewhere) from the Adobe web site, or (only) from an installed Adobe Flash Player preference panel. Never download Flash Player (or anything claiming to be Flash Player) from a different web site.

If you have forgotten your OS X password, then here is the Apple procedure for resetting a lost administrative password for 10.6. That needs the installation DVD, or a DVD acquired from Apple. If you no longer have the DVD, then an alternate approach is discussed in the first answer here.
