Thanks BobRz but i have a 13 inch macbook pro and i am already running mavericks, any other ideas

i will tell you this when i take a screen shot the problem shows on my screen but not when i insert the photo here, i reset the comand option p-r last night several times and it cleared oit up some. I have plugged into an external display and it shows on the external i went to the genuis bar and they were stumped as to what is causing it it s very intermitant sometime when i am editing with aperature or iphoto it shows really bad it first started when i would play video through iphoto but play it with quick time and its gone. Its very strange

JWilly,

I'm not sure what specific model you have, but many have 2 graphics circuits; the onboard Intel, and another discrete graphics card. I sent that link the first time because it sounds like the discrete card is failing. Try this: download gfxstatus from gfx.io and see if you have 2 circuits. If so, force the graphics to Intel. If the problem disappears, it's likely your discrete graphics card.
