Trying to access iTunes Store kills network

Mac Mini, Mavericks 10.9.1, iTunes 11.1.3 (8).

When I open iTunes, and click on the "iTunes Store" button, my network connection dies, and nothing will revive it other than rebooting. Any ideas on what might be causing this? I'm connecting to the network using an ethernet cable, not wi-fi.
