ipad mini charger

I have just bought a new ipad mini and it takes ages to charge up. I have had a look at the cherger that came with it and it is only 5W, is this normal?

iPad, iOS 7.0.4, ipad mini

Sorry, it is an ipad Air not the ipad mini!

Look on the iPad's back case to find the model number.
