Could it be that you are in fact on the slow path?
No help huh? I am getting this console message along with the beach ball and very slow system response. It would be nice to know what is causing it, and how to fix it.
Suggest starting a new thread (See "New" at the top of the page).
Describe your problem in the New thread.
Post a "Small" sample of the error messages you are getting in your New thread and indicate the frequency (it may be totally unrelated).
Post the output from EtreCheck in your New thread.

Do you have the performance issues if you boot into Safe mode?
<http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1564>
Safe mode will not start any 3rd party additions you may have installed. If better, then that is a place to start, and the EtreCheck output will give a list of the 3rd party stuff.
Does your console log have lots of very frequently repeating entries, especially the kind that indicate a process starts, dies, starts, dies, starts, dies, .... This kind of thing is difficult to see in other utilities
Start Applications -> Utilities -> Activity Monitor and let it run in the background. Check when performance is slow and see if you have a process consuming too much CPU, or too much Memory, or too much disk or network I/O.
Post your information in the New thread you create.
Thanks Bob, I will start with the tools you suggested. I am considering a clean install anyway. I hope your response will help some others down the road who find this original post.
