Pages 5.0 can't open any form of .docx files

OK pages 5.0 is being absolutly usless as I now refuses to open any form of .docx file. I have just preformed a clean install of my machine and have yet to download word 2011 for it.

Why is pages not opening these file types as they are sussposed to be supported?
