Q: Working on an excel file and error message came up when I hit save, now pointer is in pinwheel mode and I cannot do anything

Working on an excel file and the error message came up. When I hit save, the pointer went into pinwheel mode and has been that way for the past 20 min or so. What to do?

iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2011), iOS 7

    Not much you can do, Excel has crashed, you can wait and see if it recovers or you can Force Quit, and that will erase the file you are trying to save.

     

    What did the error say?

     

    If you have AutoRecover activated Excel will attempt to recover the file, if not, it will not.
