Iphone 5 not working when plugged into widows

i have an iphone 5 around 6 months now, it charges perfectly and when i plug it into my laptop it does not show up at all, at the start this was not an issie and i now can now sync music or even charge it on the laptop. i have tried a different laptop and i different lead with no luck. the apple mobile device is intallef and both iphone and itunes are up to date in terms of upates. Ive tried alot f things at this stage and i looked at the thing on the itunes support on this and tried the things it said, again the phone is not even charging on the laptop, i have a windows 7 laptop and iphone 5.. any halp is great thanks

If the device is not charging, I suggest that it is a USB driver issue. See this support document about the device not being recognized in Windows. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538. Pay particular attention to step 5.

Does anything appear in Device manager when connected? Does it display an error? (red X, yellow triangle)

no nothing chris, sometimes it comes up, device not recognise but not often..

With the device not connected to the computer, remove and reinstall iTunes, following the instructions in this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923. Make sure you follow them in order, or it could lead to problems. After reinstalling, connect the phone. It should reinstall the drivers at that time.

when i try to re download itunes it doesnt work, i goes to the thank you page, but the download desnt start..

Use this link. It should then give you a Download Now button. After hitting that button, you should either see a warning box in Windows to either Run, or Save the file. If you choose Save, it should save to your Download folder. After it is finished downloading, then locate the file, double-click on the file to run it. If you get any warning boxes to allow changes, click on yes.
