I've been looking all over the place to figure this out, but I've found nothing. How do you install a .sf2 file onto garageband 10? I used to be able to install it using the DLS music device, but as far as I know, that's not in Garageband 10.

I am seeing the DSL music device in the Audio Units section of the Smart Controls. But maybe it is a left-over from GarageBand 11.
Open the Smart Controlds and click the Audio Units > Instrument brick.
Then select "Au Instruments > Apple".
But I did not check, if soundfonts still will work this way. Tell us, when you try.

I nearly forgot - if you have not already done so, you need to enable the Audio Units in the GarageBand Preferences, in the Audio/Midi brick, Effects:
I actually did not have that checked off. That helped me a bit, but I don't have an instrument brick where audio units is. I have Audio FX, but that's it. I also can only see it when I click the master button.

You probably have a real-instrument track selected. The "Audio Unit > Instrument" will only show for software instrument tracks, as far as I can see.
Hangtime actually solved that problem for me. I was able to choose DLS music device. My last question though...How do I actually choose a soundfont?
I'm assuming it should be in the soundbank drop down. Am I not putting the soundfont in the correct area?
Nevermind! I actually didn't have anything in the soundbanks as I thought I did. Thank you SO MUCH! I greatly appreciate it! 😀 You have no idea how long I've been trying to figure this out!
Where did youinstall them?
The usual place is in /Library/Audio/Sounds/Banks/
Yeah, I thought I already my soundfont in the folder, so I was wondering why nothing showed up. It was actually empty, so I just put in the soundfonts I wanted.
I have the same problem and yeah, that didn't help. AU is enabled but no brick appears.
