"unknown error" in iChat

Hi all.
I am running into the same problem that "fishbulb" listed about getting an "unknown error" in iChat when trying to video/audio with a PC user through AIM. Everything goes fine, I send an invite or vice versa and it tried to connect but then just fails and gives this "unknown error" message. I just got my iSight the other day and must say it's all a little discouraging. I've gone through all of the suggestions and opened the recommended ports listed. I am using only a modem (Speedstream 5200) through DSL and no router. iChat 2.1 on a G4 Powerbook. Oddly enough, my friend and I were able to see each other when I was using Mercury Messenger and he MSN, BUT the whole idea of getting him to download AIM was so that we could video AND audio and I'd really like to use iChat.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks.

Fishbulb's problem was literally an "unknown error" that arose when he tried to connect to a PC user using AIM while he was is iChat...that's what I am getting. It titles itself "unknown error" and as a result no connection is made between myself and the PC user using AIM. When I open connection doctor, it lists this message (I have removed actual names and IP addresses):

"2006-07-29 16:05:37 -0400: Bob did not respond.
Tried to send UDP SIP "invite" to the following IP addresses and ports:
(I have taken out the specific IP addresses)."

It's tries to connect, but then this error pops up.

The link you included ooks extremely helpful and I am going to send it on to the PC user's I'm dealing with and see if we can sort things through. I've already opened up my ports that are suggested, so it could be on their end. If we still hit a dead end, I'll be back!!! Thanks.

Hi LostinMac,

Can you post the IPs and the ports that follow.
Put xxx in for the forth set of numbers.

205.123.43.xxx:5060 192.168.1.2:5060

The second one is your LAN (computer IP and will not matter)
The first is your Public IP (hopefully)

The ports should both list 5060
If it does not it will suggest a NAT problem.

If so then tell us how your connection devices are set up.
