Mavericks still destroys Adobe Acrobat ClearScan files

Hi everyone,

just to confirm and to get as many people as possible to send bug reports to Apple:

The issue, persisting since OSX 10.6 where Preview would irrepairably destroy PDFs OCR'ed with Acrobat ClearScan has never been fixed and is a problem to this day.

Reason for the issue: upon making changes to a PDF file OCR'ed with ClearScan (rotating pages, deleting pages but even adding annotation) and saving the file, the recompilation of the PDF with OSX’s PDFKit deletes from the file all fonts that are not part of the system’s font library. This applies to ClearScan PDFs since that is basically the idea behind ClearScan: recognize text, generate custom fonts and rebuild document with these. Why is that necessary? Because it saves gigabytes in storage and more importantly, makes PDFs viable documents for syncing with iCloud (and other clouds) by greatly diminsihing the file size while staying true to the layout.

So, please, everyone, if you’re as annoyed by this issue as I am, send a bug report (copy my post) to http://www.apple.com/feedback/!

Your support is greatly appreciated by me and all others who are pestered by this issue!
