my ipod classic says its connected but itunes wont recognize it, it wont disconnect and is telling me there is 0 kb free and no music, pictures, videos, or podcasts

It looks like all your space is gone so I would suggest contacting apple support or go to your nearest apple store or reseller to transfer more GB but it will cost

An Apple Store or reseller cannot "transfer more GB". I've no doubt you mean well but please make sure you really understand the issue and ensure that your response is relevant to it.
