Safari > Preferences > General > Homepage
Safari Preferences, General tab is very useful, and is explained here:
https://support.apple.com/kb/PH21487?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
However, what happens if you want to get a default home page back?
In case you want to reset Homepage, use the menu:
Safari > Preferences > General (tab) > Homepage.
This is the initial start page that appears when we install OS X and first open Safari.
file:///Applications/Safari.app/Contents/Resources/WelcomePage/English.lproj/ind ex.html
You can set the initial start page as Homepage.
This is the ‘used’ Safari Homepage.

😉
Word of caution!
When OS X, El Capitan is first installed, then leaving the “Welcome to Safari” page open and using a tab or window to enter a search term in the browser address bar will open a “403” page, with the message that the browser window could not be opened.
There are two ways to get around this unwelcome search outcome. On Safari’s Welcome page, click on the link, “Start using Safari”. Alternatively, set “Welcome to Safari” as your homepage. Now, close that first-ever browser window, and re-open Safari.
Once you follow either of the two steps above, Safari address bar searches will not result a 403 search outcome.
🙂
Notice that the file link above will not open on a Mac. This is due to OS X security. Just copy the file link, and paste it into your Preferences' Homepage.
