Safari error when trying to download ePub books

For years I have been purchasing books through several websites on my ipad. When it comes time to download the book I would choose the ePub format and a box would pop up asking me if I would like to open the book in iBooks or Overdrive. I always choose iBooks and the book would open. Now I am getting an error message that says Safari can not open this file. I don't understand because I have been doing it for this way for years, I have ordered books from these websites many times so they reputiable. I was able to download the same file to my apple desktop and open it in itunes so I know there is not a problem with the file the problem is with my ipad. I tried deleting iBooks on the ipad and reinstalling it but still get the same error. Does anyone have any suggestions. My IPad has the latest software version and I'm at a loss as to what to try. HELP!

Frankly, I don't know why this error is happening to you...but I'm interested in knowing why.

However, I suspect the problem is related to the way that books are stored on your device. Most users store their documents on iTunes, which manages book and music and such. On the most recent version of iTunes, most purchased books work fine, but importing other books may require some help - DropBox is free, and it's a good way to transfer ePub files so you can read them on your iPad.

In other words, use DropBox to manage your ePub files from now on. Guaranteed to work.
