AUDIO BOOK SKIPS TO NEXT BOOK

I have an ipod Classic (160 gb). I purchased and downloaded a audiobook from audible.com. I'm in to Chapter 22 or 23 and all of a sudden it skips to the next book on my ipod. I deleted the book from my ipod and again I moved the audioboook from my itunes library back onto my ipod, but it does the same thing. If I play the book from itunes on my computer, it doesn't skip. It's not doing this on any other audio or audible.com downloaded audiobook. Any suggestions?

Sorry, auto pilot. 😊

Is there a pause before the skip? That might indicate trouble reading the file before it "decides" to move on, but that ought not to persiste if you remove and then reload the file. No pause would suggest it "thinks" there is an early end time set for the track, but again removing and reloading ought to fix it. I've seen something similar mentioned elsewhere but no sign of how or why it might happen. Short of restoring and reloading the whole device I'm not sure what to suggest.

You might want to check the device's hard drive stats as outlined in Corrupt iPod classic just to make sure there are no concerns there.

There is no pause. It's played fine for 22 or 23 chapters, then speeds up for a bout 1-2 seconds, and then skips to the next audiobook. Again, this is not occurring with any of my other audio books. I deleted it from my ipod. I even deleted it from iTunes, and re-downloaded the audiobook again from Audible.com. Same problem at the eexact same location.
