Lost photos after iCloud restore

My restore from iCloud was not completed so half my photos did not restore to my iPhone 5S.

Now my device automatically backed it's self up to iCloud.

When I check my storage information in iCloud my photos backup is only half the size it used to be, have I now lost these photos as the original backup was overwritten?
