quicktime has crashed

I have the latest OS software downloaded but when trying to use quicktime I receive the message that it has crashed. However, when trying to download the new quicktime, I am told I have the latest. So I am left scratching my fluffy head. I apologize if this message doesn't make sense, but i am just looking on how to fix the problem.

You need to be more specific.

1) QT structures are imbedded in the Mac OS X software and cannot be download/installed like a simple application. If the problem is in your operating system then you would normally have to re-install the entire OS.

2) Have you performed routine crash maintenance? E.g., have you tried deleting the associated PLIST file(s) incase they have been corrupted and is the sourse of your problem.

3) If the problem is associated with a particular QT player, which one is causing the problem and what version of QT player app have you been trying to download and install/reinstall? (I..e., the Leopard and earlier QT 7 apps will not install on Mac OS X v10.6, v10.7, v10.8, or v10.9 operating systems and QT X versions of the QT Player are normally not available as individual download unless you saved a archive copy beforehand or are running TimeMachine.)

4) One additional possibility of a problem source would be the addition/use of software or hardware that conflicts with the use QT/QT apps. Although rare, some instances of such conflicts have been reported and may require you to search the forum for specific examples.
