I just changed my Apple ID using my iPad. I attempted to update my Apple ID on my phone, but it continues to show my old email address. I have turned the phone off, but this has not resulted in any change. Any advice that will help me fix this problem?

Amateur question back at you: how do I log out of the old Apple ID on my phone? I'm assuming it is in settings, but the only place I find my Apple ID is in iCloud. And I cannot select the account because the pop up window asking me to sign in to iCloud continues to come up with the old email address.
Did you log out of the old Apple ID on the phone and then log in with the new one? It does not change automatically. Also, any apps purchased with the old ID are locked to the Apple ID used to purchase them.
I finally figured out how to log out of the old Apple ID and change it to the new Apple ID. Now my problem is with the iCloud. I cannot figure out how to change my Apple ID within the iCloud settings. All I really want to do is delete the iCloud profile since I don't use it. Any suggestions?
I have taken the steps you said to do, but my iPhone is not recognizing my "old" password that I need to put in to turn off "Find my iPhone." I can't sign out. Which means I can't sign back in. I am able to sign in to forums like this with my new apple ID. But I can't get into my iCloud on my laptop. It seems like in order to try to deal with this problem I have changed my ID and password so many times that now I can barely log in anywhere. Should I just go to a Verizon or Apple store? Can they override my system and reset everything or something?
You will need to enter the old Apple ID and password in Settings/iCloud after tapping the Off switch for Find my iPhone. Once it is off you can remove the Apple ID from your phone and enter your new one.
