What options are avail to remote control my iMac?

Hello,

We have a two year old intel based iMac in our basement.

We love it, but we don't have room for it upstairs, so it's going to have to stay put.

I'd like to know what the options are for remotely controlling it from a different room in my house?

We have an iPad and I believed we've used logmein before.

Are there wifi enabled monitors that can somehow connect to your imac and allow you to control it?

I'm hoping to find an option that involves a larger screen than our iPad.

What if I had a cheap Windows laptop, could I connect with it?
